Omega Mu Foundation, Inc. was conceived by a group of likeminded Omega men who developed a friendship and brotherhood from spending time together at Georgia College (now Georgia College & State University) in the 1980s. During their time in college these men held similar core principles and values and thus developed a strong bond surrounding their common interests of having a positive impact on society. They saw that Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. espoused principles and values that aligned closely with theirs. This led them to pursue and help establish an undergraduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. on the campus of Georgia College.

Early Success

They successfully established an undergraduate chapter in 1984, known as Omega Mu Chapter, with nine members. In the subsequent years, more likeminded men joined the chapter. They spent many hours volunteering in the community and actively seeking to improve the college experience for other minority students and groups. After these men transitioned from the college experience into their respective professional careers, they have kept the same mindset of improving the life experiences of others in our society. Along the way, there were conversations about the many needs in our society, how each one has contributed in their own way, and more specifically what might they be able to do to make a difference like they had done together so many years ago.

The Plan

During the summer of 2023 while reuniting and reminiscing on their past experiences, the idea was brought forth to resume the work that had been so rewarding back in the 1980s. After sincere dialogue and discussion, the idea of establishing a nonprofit foundation was born. Through electronic and personal conversations, six of these men agreed to fund the initial startup costs of the foundation with the others in full agreement to support the cause.

Thus, the Omega Mu Foundation, Inc. has been duly established as of October 10, 2023, and the work has begun.
